I have been thinking that using my tablet to post things on Facebook and here on blogger would be easier... Its not... It is convenient ... Sometimes but other times not so much... Anyhow... I don't know if I posted the pics of the pinwheel blocks that I was playing with here or on Facebook but here's a link to my Facebook...here
Feel free to poke around.. It is my personal page but I don't have anything to hide...lol. Anyhow.. A friend of ours was just recently diagnosed with stage four lung cancer, some sort of spot on his brain and he had a seizure.. Well actually he is continuing to suffer with seizures. His name is Barry... And I can't imagine what he is feeling... My heart is breaking for his wife..
So oh yes.. The pinwheels... I made the pinwheels in red, white and blue.. With plain white sashing around them.. Before I knew saying was sashing...lol...  I made the blocks and then couldn't come up with anything else.. But they really don't need anything else.. They are so awesome.. I just love them.. And now they are going to have a home.. Our friend served in Vietnam and he is proud of his military service and he should be.. I want him to know how much it is appreciated and how much we love him. I want to honor him in some small way... A way he can touch, see and feel.
Its just so amazing what a quilt can do... The feels they carry... The love that they give and show. I just love quilting from so many different aspects.

Hopefully I can have the border done and it basted and maybe even some fmq done on it today....wooo book.... I can't wait to give it to him.

had a lot of stuff going on... sorry for the no posts... AGAIN..

I will get better at this... I have a ton of photos to post.. I have a lot of them on my Facebook page... https://www.facebook.com/1LindaWierenga?ref=tn_tnmn
Feel free to go through them... It is my personal page ...
I finished all the quilts I was working on for half of my grandbabies... And I have started another quilting project....

And I have been practicing feathers...

I have quilted two.. The big one I drew out on the fabric first... And then the small one I did on the fly.. Just going with the flow of the sewing machine...

I have been playing with homemade chalk paint... So awesome.... Got the info from this blog....http://howtodistressfurniture.net/definitive-guide-homemade-chalk-paint-recipes

Excuse my links... I will get better at all this... At least be able to make it look better...lol

And I found this awesome blog... I just love women wood workers... wilkerdos

There is also Anna whites website too... here it is .
I have so much more to post... And I have to say I have been poking around on blogs for a very long time and just recently started commenting... I am ashamed to say that I just realized how important it is to comment on posts ... When you use something you should thank the people that post it.. If you enjoy it you should post it... If you have a tip or an experience you should post it... I don't know why I never thought about it like this before... But I'm on the ball now... Woo hooo.

So more posting later today... Got a tip or comment.. Please feel free....

i did it again...I'm trying to get better..

When you are living life its so hard to stop and post on blogger.. But here's another post to add to my growing collection...lol.
I have been working on twin size quilts for six of my twelve grand children.. Since November this has been going on.. They were suppose to be a Christmas present.. And I was suppose to be super granny and have them done by Christmas... Well here it is the last weeks in march and they are complete...

Those are for the boys.... And these last ones are for the girls....

Whew.... And you wouldn't believe the mistakes I made... And the lessons I have learned... Not only about quilting... Lol....
One the girls quilts I quilted the side borders by just following the print on the material... It makes it three dimensional... And left a beautiful zebra design on the back. I think I will use this technique again...I love it... It was easy to do... No marking out a design... No muss no fuss... Easy peezy....

I kept all the others very simple by just stitch in the ditch... I kinda had to with the time that I was running short on...lol.
They will be delivered in a week or two... When we make a trip over to see them...

And now I have to start another project. I learned that it is a good thing to have multiple projects going at once. That way when ya get bored or frustrated ya can jump around a little. But maybe not... I don't know.. All I know is that when I am quilting or messing with fabric or anything crafty I get lost in it.. I could do it 24\7 and be just fine.. Now my children and my family wouldn't be to happy.. Or maybe they don't really mind. Lol.... I really don't know.. Maybe I should poll them!!?
What do you have on the table (O.T.T.)??
Oh oh and I just joined the quilters club of america.. Seems like a great deal.. We shall see..
Feel free to leave comments.. I will respond.

Wow.. I am really surprised that they didn't delete this blog. It has been so neglected. I have gone back and forth on keeping the old posts or just deleting them and starting fresh. I think I'll keep them..just to document part of my journey. I also debated doing a whole background post... But decided that isn't at all what I want to do. I'm going to get right to it.
Over the coarse of this last year I have discovered a new interest... Fabric!!!!.... Oh wonderful fabric... And quilting... Oh wonderful quilting.
I haven't taken not one lesson yet. Everything I have learned so far is from YouTube videos, blogs and websites. I have discovered many wonderful sites.. And seen a lot of beautiful work.
I have made 6 lap quilts and 6 twin size quilts. On each one of these projects..by the way they are all for my grandchildren.. I have discovered some new lesson. I learn best by just jumping in and doing. I didn't really think about documenting each step with photos, a journal entry or a video. But now I am wishing I had!!!...lol oh well.. I'm sure they will come up again sometime.
I have loved looking at fabric and thread.. I have loved all the blogs and videos and pictures. I  look up to these women and men that have just totally thrown caution to the wind and taken their passion to the next levels. I want to do that too. I want to do what I love and love what I do. I want to create beauty... I need to create beauty. Its where I am happiest.
So here goes my adventure... I believe I am ready to throw caution to the wind and go to the next level.
Here's an article on a blog that I have been reading.... http://www.lovebugstudios.com/2013/05/21/the-dumbing-down-of-the-quilting-and-sewing-industry/

It has been the push I needed to sign up for my very first quilting class and maybe I will join a local quilting group.
